VNC Server on MACS

Post by azler »

I have tried searching the forum for an answer to this and so far come up with nothing / the posts are from years ago.
I have moved company from a totally windows environment to a Windows / Mac environment.

I made a custom version of the single click for windows computers where you go to a website give them a 5 numbered pin, They input the pin and click begin and are prompted to download and run an .exe file.
Once this has been run on the local windows computer it connects to the repeater on one of our servers. You do the same from the admin side and you can now take control of their pc.

Is there anyway to accomplish this on the Mac side?, The web interface I can take care of and the packaging up of the required files.

But im finding it difficult to locate a portable VNC server to use on the Macs that can be downloaded and run.

If I can get a solution and it all working I would be happy to share with the community.

Update:
I have managed to pull the VNC server from the ChunkVNC 3.2 version make some changes and get that working nicely on 10.6 & 10.7.
I have also managed to add a small script so the user running it has to add the unique ID given by who is connecting.
This was tested on a 10.7 and I could view it from a Windows 7 computer. (I will explain why in the next section)

The server side on the client computer seems to work fine now. The trouble is finding a viewer for macs to connect to the repeater.
I have got it working on 10.6 using ssvnc however this didnt work so well on 10.7...

Does anyone have any suggestions to what vnc viewer I can use on the mac? It has to be run via terminal for so I can script it & be able to connect to a repeater.
