Repeater/Distributer/Proxy

Post by threehappypenguins »

I have no idea what I'm doing. I downloaded the repeater and it's in a zip file. I opened the distributer (it's actually misspelled; should be distributor), and I see it leaves an icon by the time. I double click on it and go to settings. I don't know what I'm looking at. Should I move the files to the uvnc bvba folder? I have a proxy on the computer where I have to reconfigure the internet settings for an http proxy to go through 127.0.0.1:3128 and then I can no longer access the server with a viewer from another computer. So I assumed I need the repeater. But I don't have a clue what I'm doing.

I also don't want an icon showing and I don't understand how to hide it like I hid the vnc server icon.

Let's start with what you're trying to accomplish and what the setup is.

Are you using a repeater because you are trying to get around having to configure the server's firewall when you make a connection?
Where are these computers located (all on same private network, PrivateNet1, Internet, PrivateNet2, etc.)? Server, Viewer, Repeater
Are you wanting to connect to clients in the future such that you do not know who needs access currently?
What version of the software are you using? VNC Server, VNC Viewer, Repeater
Are all computers involved running Windows? If so, Windows XP, Windows 7, etc.?
