IP Address in the Viewer Window

Post by YuVu »

Hi, I noticed early this week that in my UltraVNC Viewer window, next to my remote machine's name I have the following "(192.168.1.100, 169.254.XXX.X) -service mode -- UltraVNC Viewer + SecureVNCPlugin-v2.3.0.0 by Adam D. Walling". I recognize the internal IP adress as being the one assigned to my VNC server machine, but I do not recognize the IP address to the left of it. The second IP address does not correspond to the public IP address of the server machine. I connect to the server from a different public IP address.

Here's a description of the two machines:
-- Server:
- Windows 7 Ultimate 64
- UltraVNC version 1.2.03 64-bit
- SecureVNCPlugin64.dsm

-- Viewer
- WIndows 7 Ultimate 64
- UltraVNC version 1.2.03 64-Bit

Update: I've since formated my computer running the server and the unknown IP address has vanished from the system tray bar icon. Weird.

That's an ip address used by some virtual adapter like virtualpc or vmware.
Check with a cmd
ipconfig /all

You are correct. I looked up my virtual box's adapter and it was that exactly. I just reinstalled virtual box on the computer I run the vnc server and now I get that computer's local ip as well as the ip of the virtual machine's adapter. Thanks for clearing this up for me.
