Error in deploying 'UltraVnc_1205_x64' using domain GPO

Post by vinodtcr »

I'm getting the following error message while creating the deployment package for 'UltraVnc_1205_x64' in windows 2003 R2 domain group policy object. But, It works fine for the 32bit package 'UltraVnc_1205_x86'.

"Add operation failed. Unable to extract deployment information from the package. Run validation on the package to ensure the package is correct."

The validation in orca pass without any errors/warnings.

try psexec to send the install

also, i had AD permissions problems until i did this:

Windows 7 64 bit client w 1205 using AD login credentials
uvnc installed as service

-environment variables/temp profile. - I had temporary profile issues (which i know how to fix in registry). Set the environment variables for TMP and TEMP to a non user folder. IE not %user%/appdata/local/temp but use c:\windows\temp for both variables

-right click tray icon and choose Admin Properties. Uncheck 'New MS LOGON (supports multiple Domains). Leave 'Require MS Logon' checked. click the Configure MS Logon Groups button. If you get the UAC question popup box, click Change when these notifications appear and then set the UAC slider to the second to the lowest level (Notify me only when programs.....). Hit Ok

Now that UAC is set to the 2nd to lowest setting, go back to Admin Properties, and RECHECK the New MS LOGON (supports multiple Domains) checkbox, hit Configure MS Logon Groups button, and you get a completely different security box. You will know its the right one because it looks like an actual Windoes permissions box, and will have completely different users and groups.

This is the one you need to edit. It should work after that
