Does the cpu load on the target machine decrease or increase if the max number of colours in the connection dialog is reduced?
I am already using the mirror driver if that matters, I'm just trying to understand what configuration will have the least impact on the target machine. Actual bandwidth usage is irrelevant to me.

Re: Is CPU load dependant on connection speed?
Play with the encoders.
low compression ( less cpu)
hextile
ultra
ultra2
colors, best if the screen you clone also has less colors
If the server pc is 8bit, then selecting 8bit colors has a lower impact then selecting 8bit colors with a server running 32bit colors.
