Is BlackAlphaBlending still supported in in 1.2.0.9?

Post by smartass »

Hi,

I've installed UVNC version 1.2.0.9 using the all.zip method (I'd prefer to not install it directly and keep it portable).
I've successfully connected to the server (in the win7 directory) running with multiple different VNC clients.
Now I'm particulary interested in the option to use a custom

Code: Select all

background.bmp
image, because I would like to use it during switching presentations (to display a logo) at a conference.
However, with the version 1.2.0.9 I was not able to use enable the background setting. The *.ini file does not even have the

Code: Select all

BlackAlphaBlending
option and the server configuration window seems to be missing those options, there appear to be blank lines where I think they once were. When I set that setting in the ini file to 1 or 0 and restart the server, it does not help. The BMP file is in the same folder as the server and it is a real BMP file.
I'm not using the mirror driver (as far as I can tell, I certainly didn't install or enable it).

Was this option removed at some point in the past? I couldn't find any mention of that in any changelog or discussion.

Using layer windows to hide the screen for the local user stopped working after MS removed the layered windows from the OS.
To avoid confusing, the Software check if the OS support layer windows.
Black screen no layer support, bmp logo support.

It's supported until Vista without aero.
With a single layer, the image would show local and remote and people keeps complaining that it doesn't work. So it's btter to have a working black window then a bmp the block local and remote.

Thank you for the explanation.

Is there some alternative way of achieving a similar effect in Windows 7?
For instance, could it workd if I disabled Aero?
