VNC Authentication Failed

Post by Johny5 »

I've been using UltraVNC for a long time on several computers, just using VNC authentication (security is not a concern). For the past week, I can no longer connect to one machine. It always says authentication failed. I've changed the password, uninstalled, reinstalled, upgraded, and even copied the ini file from a computer, all with the same result. This is Windows 7 64 and originally UltraVNC version 1.206, now 1.209. I've tried UltraVNC viewer client on PC, and iTeleport and RealVNC clients on iPhone. Nothing works, just on this one machine. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thank you.

Also, running server as service or application makes no difference either.

Are you sure there are no 2 vnc running from within a different folder.
Try Netstat -bn to see who is jusing port 5900

If vnc detect that port 5900 is in use, it just takes the port higher 5901, you can have 2 version running simultanious.
