VNC without opening/forwarding a port?

Post by Bill_VA »

I have uvnc installed on two computers and am able to connect via the Internet from the viewer to the server. However, I had to forward a port on my router to get it done. Is there a way to connect without opening or forwarding a port? My boss thinks it's a security risk to open a port.

You can open a port on the viewer site and let the server make the connection. ( invers connection)
You can use a repeater on a 3the pc. Using the 3the pc is some pc that's direct connected to the internet or has 2 ports forwarded.
In that case, viewer and server make outgoing connections to the repeater and no need to open a port on the viewer and server pc.

You need to forard some port...but it doesn't need to be on the server site.

If your router supports it, you can also open a port but restrict it to one or more public IP addresses.
