Wrong char typed in Excel (Regional setting related)

Post by Jyd »

Hi all,
Setup:
Windows 10 and Office 2010 italian
Uvnc Viewer r. 1.2.1.0, Server r. 1.2.1.1 (but happens with older release too)

During a cell edit, usually typing "." (period) from the keypad, Excel print a "," (comma) accordingly to regional setting: in Italy comma is used for decimals and period for thousands.
If you want to type a period you have to press the key "." above the left Alt Key.

But inside a VNC session there's no way to print a period: even pressing the "." key, Excel prints the comma. Now, if I want to remotely write a ".", I have to open another app (Word, Notepad ecc ecc), select a period, copy and paste it in Excel's cell.
This happens only in Excel, not in all other programs.

I tried to change some settings in Excel, but with no luck.
Of course I need to keep the regional set to Italian language.

Is there a way to fix it?

Thanks in adv
Jyd

Try viewer settings "japanese keyboard".
This use an alternative method to create the keys.

1) Normal: keyboard "shift ;" is send as "."
2) Japanese: "shift ;" is send as "shift and ;"
