Version with -100- in name? RC18 can't connect

Post by geolr »

Hi there,
i am new to ultravnc (used to have tightvnc before) but exited about those great features :-)

I grabed the
UltraVnc-100-RC18-Setup.zip
Installed two machines with it, adapted the presonal firewalls,
installed encryption plugin, generated an copied keys, installed driver for RC18.
but sorry: These servers can't get a connection.
(Bug? When i select to use the plugin, press apply an OK, then when reopening the properties box the selection has disappeared?)

I think a did everything right, same settings, with and without encryption, disabled firewalling, still no connection
Failed to connect to server.

Are those installation files OK?
What does the -100- in the name mean?
RC17 doesn't have -100-

Thanks alot,
this _again_ shows the power of opensource!

No meaning...
100-RC18 --> Release candidate 18 for Rel 1.00
It's just a name.

What I did was:
Restore the WinXP-Box by a former Restoration-Point
(don't know the right englisch term...)
That was no prob 'cause it was a spam new setup.

So it looks that the problem has been lying somewhere in network settings.
Eventhough I didn't try to use the Encryption-Plugin yet...

By the way:
I wanted to try the text-chat feature. But the error message was:
Not a UltraVNC client.
Which is not true: Using RC18 on both sides
Maybe, i didn't get the clou on how the text-chat is meant to work...

I love the autoscaling option in the Viewer
