uVNC connects & then nothing?
uVNC connects & then nothing?
Hi, I have two Win7 systems - one is the VNC server. the other the client. Not sure why, but when I connect it asks for the password & then looks like the screen will show up but as soon as it starts to draw on monitor it goes away. [ I may not be explaining this properly. ] You actually see the screen begin to show you the remote desktop but as soon as it looks like it's about to appear on the monitor, it vanishes. I'm sure its connecting - as it asks for password & will refuse on wrong password. I had been using 1.2.1.2 & tried to upgrade to fix to 1.2.1.6 on both server & client - yet the issue continues. Drivers (like video) appear to be fine/updated. Not sure where to go from here. Appreciate any help & input.

Re: uVNC connects & then nothing?
Did you had the same issue with 1.2.1.2 ?
Try to change winvnc.exe with the winvnc XP version from zip or the OldCpu version.
Copy winvnc.exe to a temp folder and start from that folder.
1) on start you need to enter a passwd but this way we are sure the ultravnc.ini in the temp is the default file.
2) try to connect with viewer on the same pc vncviewer connect to localhost
3) if that work, try to connect from another pc..
...
4) if that work, copy the ultravnc.ini from the temp folder to the install folder

Sorry, forgot to reply to your question!
Yes, the exact same issue. That's why I upgraded to the latest version, see if it would resolve. It didn't.
Anyway, thanks for your help so far. I will try your advice & report back!

Re: uVNC connects & then nothing?
I have installed the client on a completely different Win7 system & the exact same behavior was noted when I tried to connect to the server.

Re: uVNC connects & then nothing?
Can you also install the server on "different Win7" and test if vncviewer connect to hios own server.
When something doesn't work... we need go back to the basic.
If this doesn't work you don't need to test remote, that wil also fail.
There are so many reason why your connection can disconnect.
server/viewer but also firewall software or other security software.

I'll try all this also & report back. I appreciate your help so far. I should be able to get all this done Friday or so & let you know.

Re: uVNC connects & then nothing?
Thanks for all your time & effort. Thanks to your help I was able to ascertain the issue is related to the SonicWall security appliance. I must be missing something. When I remove the SonicWall - it connects fine. When I have the SonicWall in place - it asks for the password & knows the right or wrong password (so it has to be connecting) but will not allow me to view the remote desktop. Ugh!
