How to set password for the VNC service?

Post by Richard »

1) Using Windows XP Pro

2) No problem connecting to a user started VNCserver

3) VNC service starts OK according to "Administative Tools\Services" but when I connect from client it says "The server does not have a valid passord enabled...."

4) When I try to set the password with the menu "-> Ultr@VNC Server -> Show default setting" in the VNC it says "No existing instance of WinVNC could be contacted". But if I look in "Administative Tools\Services" it says the the server is started OK.

5) I can "Show default setting" and set password if the user have started a personal VNCserver, but I still get the problem in 3)

What am I doing wrong? How do I set the password for the VNC service?

Thx for a very nice and fast VNC!

I get the same error sometimes. I have to go to the My Computer->Manage->Services and stop and restart the VNCServer.

I'm just trying to completely remove everything and reinstall it.
