I keep getting crashes on Win XP

Post by jsbthree »

This could be due to a million things. I've been down this route before and keep wondering precisely what it is that causes the crash :( . I belive there is some kind of port knock from another installed application on the xp client only damned if I can figure out which one.

I manage 5 and sometimes more linux | unix servers -- all remote and all with ultra. I use varous linux and xp clients and am changing them all the time. I can't pin down the problem with the xp crashes and it hasn't disappeared in several years..

Any thoughts... just curious.. :|

With this version and setup. Its after about a month of not using and the attendant network detritus and installed junk .. I fire it back up and bam.. it begins to crash...

What I want to know is what is it possibly in the junk installed over time that might be the caause. ?? What are known applications that might steop on Ultra?? thanks.

I'm not sure if this would explain if it was happening for years.... but I can't emphasize enough how important it is to make sure you have done a clean install. When my client computers have crashed this was due to me installing the software improperly (this includes the video driver).
