I guess you could VNC into a machine and then file transfer the software and install it. :)

You don't need any producedures or documentation for using VNC to install other software remotely.

Just install the software as you normally would do when you are in front of the computer. Hmmm..... am I missing something here???

1. Connect ultraVNC viewer to the server you want to install a sofware on.
2. Use UltraVNC FileTransfer to copy the installation file(s) on the remote server harddrive.
3. Using the viewer, open the explorer on the remote server, go to the location where you've copied the installation file(s) then run the installation program as if you were in front of the server. That's it.

NB: If the install needs a reboot of the remote computer, first ensure that WinVNC is run as a service on the server machine, otherwise you wouldn't be able to reconnect after the reboot.

'hope this helps

Can I switch WinVNC to run as a service on the server machine, and after installation and rebooting switch back and let WinVNC run, whiteout being a service on the server machine.

You can install vnc as service, but with option manual start

If you are admin, you can remote active/desactivate services on your local network.

+Remote activate service
+vnc logon
+execute what you wonna do
+vnc logoff
+Remote desactivate service

Upgrade the version of the vnc server to a later version that supports file transfer, ideally the latest one available.

Cheers
