Connection Speed

Post by bryan »

When you start the viewer and select different "Quick Options" are you in fact trying to connect at different speeds? Even though the viewer and server PCs are on my home 100bt network, the connection speed reported in the Viewer Status window never changes from 123 kbit/s.

Is the speed reported correctly?

Does the user have the ability to change the connection speed?

Or does it just run as fast as it can?

I'm trying to remote a video window and the video is very jerky at the higher speed "Quick Options". At the lower speed "Quick Options", the video is smooth but with fewer colors.

Thanks.

AFAIK you do not change the connection speed with these options but the data compression.
You can think of this as somehow related to speed, since you are probably choosing a higher compression for a low speed connection, even if you loose some quality like colour depth.
