Question about VNC Support for an organization

Post by philodox »

Well, thanks to Martin's help I have managed to get UltraVNC working on my 9x based computers and have a stable install that works across all Windows platforms.

I was speaking with my Manager and he is wondering if there are any support packages available for it.

I have become fairly familiar with the software while working with it over the last month and could create some fairly good documentation on its install and usage, but what happens when I'm no longer here? Or if there is a problem with the software that I can't resolve? I have found this forum very helpfull, but I don't think that he will accept that as a viable support solution.

Are there any support packages for UltraVNC? I would like to stick with it as I enjoy the features and have worked out all the kinks already. If not, what other distribution of VNC would you suggest that does offer support? The main features that I need are the MSLOGON capability and complete cross-platform support for Microsoft OS'. I would like to have a built in FTP, but this is not essential.

Thanks in advance,

Jason

There are still to many bug reports...
A lot of them are misconfigurations or network settings, making
it a bit harder to find the real ones

To get a product that can be supported

-we need an other user interface, current interface is becoming overloaded and admin protection is needed
-user/service settings need to get a sync mechanism. To many reported bugs are user/service settings related.
-Team need to be bigger.
-better NAT intergration is needed.

Still hope end august will produce something more stable.

Thanks for the info. :)

Hopefully it is sooner than later as I would love to continue working with UltraVNC, you guys have done a good job here.

Is anyone aware of another organization that offers support licenses for VNC?

We want to Release the V1 before thinking about an Ultr@VNC support.

We're getting closer and closer, but as Rudi says, some bugs, user-friendlyness and GUI issues still need to be adressed first.
