Unusual Problem with UltraVNC

Post by akbaris »

I have been using the tightvnc for a while both with and without zebedee. Last night I un-installed tightvnc and installed ultravnc along with a fresh re-install of zebedee. Now I have an unusual problem. I can not get ultravnc to work without zebedee. That is whenever I connect to ultravnc server directly (I have tried configuring different ports using the same methods I successfully used with tightvnc in the past) using the ultra vncview, I get an error. That is both when I use the external IP or when I use the internal router ip. But when I setup a tunel through zebedee (either using the external ip or the internal router ip) I can successfully connect.

Does anyone have any ideas why I can not simply connect with vncviewer (or the java viewer which fails also) without a tunnel through zebedee?

I am not sure what you mean by that. Loopback is enabled. But I am not sure what you mean by the registry settings. When I enabled loopback, UltraVNC did not prompt me for any additional registry entries.

Should I be removing something from the registry due to the previous installation of the tighVNC?

http://ultravnc.sourceforge.net/regserver.htm

LoopbackOnly : Setting this entry to 1 causes WinVNC to accept ONLY loopback connections

AllowLoopback : Setting this registry entry to 1 will cause local-loopback connections to be allowed. Setting it to zero will filter out such connections

LoopbackOnly set to 1 : refuse all external viewers.

Sorry last message was made in a second, not understandable.
