Auto-restart after crash

Post by Guest »

How to make the server automatically restart some time after a crash occurred? I would need this to regain control of the remote machine.

Service

Run it as a service if you are not running it as a service. If VNC is crashing, but the computer is not crashed...
  • start the service remotly
if the service is hung kill the service and thsn start the service
see 2www.sysinternals.com for the PSKill and PSService to perform these remotly.

Automatic VNC Service restart

Post by tjdembeck »

On Win 2000 you can edit the settings for the
VNC Service using the service manager: Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services. Double-click on the VNC Server service, change to the Recovery tab and change the properties for First Failure, Second Failure and Subsequent failures to "Restart the service". I've had good luck with these. The minimum restart timer is 1 minute.

Hope this helps
