Absolutely, except for the "web site" part. You'd have to have a hosting provider willing to let you run the Windows or, much more likely, Linux version of the repeater. it's not a "web" service, though it can certainly be an Internet service.

Or just run it on a Linux or Windows machine on a network you control (home or business) and open it to the Internet.

But it sounded as if you're asking about remote hosting.

Assuming you have a Linux hosting account at a hosting provider, I think you'd just upload the app to your home directory and run and configure it. I would guess that "shared hosting" would be a big problem, though, since you need to have specific ports open, so you'd pretty much need your own IP address (if not your own server)? Perhaps the devs can comment....

Edit: Whoops; didn't realize you were posting in the PCHelpware forum. My remarks above may or may not apply. :(

Ok i think i got it ...almost. So i have my own network and i have a linux (or windows ) server too. And i have a static ip too. So i can run the repeater.exe to the server and when i m making a connecrion i ll give my servers ip and it will work? this is the idea?
Actually i want to do it to be faster than using the public servers . As most of the times im behind a router and almost all customers too , the only way to connect, is via repeater or am i wrong with all this?

Thank you for your help.

Yes that's exactly the idea. Kind of the whole point of the repeater, really. Also, I think many people will run the repeater and an instance of the server on the SAME machine, so that one could optionally control that machine as well. (You can, for testing, also run the viewer on the same machine too.) But the 3 components are individual.

Some of the "packages" like ChunkVNC, or its more commercial counterparts, bundle up the 3 components (viewer, server, and repeater) for your preconfigured convenience.

Using the repeater, the ONLY ports you have to open are those on the router or firewall in front of the (presumably static and always-on) repeater machine. Both servers and viewers are making outbound connections (much as one would to GoToMyPC or LogMeIn) so it addresses most of the NAT traversal and firewall issues.
