Post by karamelos »

Dear sirs

i am intersting for Repeater mode , but i can't make it work :(

I have follow
[topic=8395][/topic]
But it's not working , i did exaclty what it says..and when i press connect it says that the network it does not exist :(

Finally if i would like to make my own version of repeater how should i do that? the manual and the guide it doesn't help me a lot. a have a few basic questions ..

First of all , can someone please tell me the order i have to follow to run the programs ? as i have understand :

1. Install the repeater file in my server
2. Open the port in my router 5901 , 5500 and NAT-ing it to my Internal server
3. Starting the PcHelpWare_viewer.exe and selecting :
Alias:testing , password:testing , Via Repeater , Host repeater -> my router public ip , list port viewer:5901 , list port server:5500 ,id: 121212
4. Create Server
5. Send the file via e-mail or post it to website
6. From the same PcHelpWare_viewer.exe ,i PRESS the connect and then it connect???

BUT IT DOES NOT Working :((((((

what should i see next? i must run the vncviewer???

Ohhhh one more question , the vncviewer listen mode , why we use it?
and why we use the Add Client in vncserver file ?

Thank you..

I share your pain karamelos.

I followed the Bevtech step by step.

I've set up the exact same setup you tried other than the
alias, password and id of course. It doesn't work for me
eiither.

I have successfully used uvnc.com as the repeater, but cannot
get it to work with my dyndns ip.

On the server computer, I can "test" using a loopback
127.0.0.1 and it tests ok. But no luck with the dyndns ip.

I've tried everything I can think of. Uninstalled antivirus,
setting my server in the DMZ of my router, reversing the
5901//5500 port settings. Nothing helps.

I did NOT check https because I have a cygwin server on port 443.
I use that to access my server from work using UltraVNC through
a Putty tunnel.

My work blocks any reference to uvnc.com so I can't use that for
the repeater. I wanted to set my own repeater.

Anyone else out there have luck with the repeater on their own server?

if I am understanding you correctly you both can get it to work with uvnc repeater??

I have my own repeater and don't have any issues at all..:)

You can create a connection via direct..

Can you create a server via your LAN??

I can try to help you isolate the issue but I am in and out alot

I am in the same position.

If I test PcHelpWare with Redge method ([topic=8395][/topic]), all is good.
But when I want to install my repeater with the same configuration of Karamelos, and I test repeater with my IP wan or no-ip, there is no connection and the repeater is out ?

Bectech, is it possible to test your repeater ? What is your configuration ? Is your repeater installed on the same PC where Pchelpware server ou wiewer is installed ?

Meny thanks for your advice. Happy new year.

There absoluty nothing related to PcHelpWare and vncviewer listening at all !!!!!!!!!!

please do not mix.

Redge, the question is not to mix Pchelpware et UltraVNC, but for me it is the impossibility to launch the repeater of Pchelpware and make a connection with it !

FINALLY! someone that has answer my question!
So to work pchelpware i need only pchelpware , not vncviewer and of course vncserver!

But still!..
I have make my own repeater i have test it on LOCAL LAN! the repeater is hosted in the pc that also host the pchelpware As SERVER (maybe this is wrong? becouse they share the same ip ??)

tonight i will install both of 3 software in 3 ip's! pchelpware server , repeater and pchelpware viewer both on different ip's to see what will going to happen..

Guys! thank you so much for the helping , i will try all of what you guys telling me, and i will post my answer.

Are you using the ssl port port 443?? That might be causing an issue if you are using the proxy option.

Bevtech..

Yes, I have successfully set up a PHW direct connection.

Yes, I have successfully set up via repeater using uvnc.com

I just can't get it set up using the phw_repeater on my server.

Here's my home LAN using a Linksys router:

1. One MAIN computer. I have an SSH server (cygwin)
for use in tunneling from my work pc. I have UltraVNC server
running on port 5902.
This is the computer I installed the phw_repeater.

2. Two other computers not used for remote access.

3. A wireless laptop. I use this to test my UltraVNC
and PcHelpWare.

I've temporarily uninstalled the anitvirus and I do
not have the Windows firewall.

For the "direct" connection, I installed the server
on the MAIN computer and the viewer on the laptop.
No problems.

For the "via repeater" using uvnc.com, I again installed the server
on the MAIN computer and the viewer on the laptop.
No problems. (Ports 5500/5901 NOT forwarded)

For the "via repeater" using my dyndns ip, I installed the
phw_repeater on the MAIN computer and the viewer on
the laptop. Ports 5500 and 5901 forwarded to the
MAIN computer.

I get a "failed to connect" message. I use the "test" button
to test the ports and I get "failed to connect to server"
and "failed to connect to viewer".

Note that my normal UltraVNC still works using my dyndns ip address
with a viewer on my laptop and the server on my MAIN computer
using port 5902.

I assume that since in did NOT use https in the setup,
that the SSH I'm running on the MAIN computer is OK.

I appreciate any help you can give me.

thanks,
moondog.

karmelos...

I guess I'm confusing the issue with mentioning
the UltraVNC. I'm only trying to demonstrate that
before I tried PHW, I have successfully used
the UltraVNC which uses my dyndns ip address.

I just can't get PHW to work with the repeater
installed on my computer.

It does work when I use the uvnc.com as the repeater.
I set it up exactly as described in the step by step.

moondog.

Repeaters work only if the ports are open and they will not share port 443 with an other application. Repeaters also do not support double nat( port 443). The work the best if they are on a static ip with 5901, 5500, 5912 and 433 open. Mine is actually on a static ip directly to the internet

I updated the doc it is version 9 now. I saw that the screen capture did not match the repeater in release 1.0

Note: If you enable the proxy or dynalias options when creating your server and make sure that you also enable those options on the repeater.;)

The step by step is a work in progress so if users think I need to add more detail to it please let me know..;)

please use the repeater from the package PcHelpWare for work
do not use the separate download repeater from UltraVNC with PcHelpWare

the most common error:
forgotten input password at viewer before Start
forgotten input password at server before Connect

not clear.
do the step below except replace ID number and replace repeater uvnc.com by your own repeater FQDN or public_static_ip
that all.

When dealing with a complex firewall ( work) redge's suggestion of using the uvnc repeater would be a very good idea.

ok it is looking like two or three users are on this thread with repeaters issues..;) Lets see if we can find the problem.

The manual and step by step seemed to be giving everyone a clear understanding of how the server and viewer work.

So this leads me to my next question. When using the repeater are you testing it in a LAN evironment?? seeing if the viewers and servers are showing up in the repeater log??

I just started working with this program today. I had to forward port 5912 in my router to the ip address of my pc running the repeater software.

I also have 5900,5500 and 5901 forwarded to the same PC but I think these are for my UltraVNC setup so I don't think they are needed?

I am using a dynamic name server for my ip address resolution and it seems to be working.

Well I had it working and I changed something on my router and now it doesn't work anymore and I can't get it back.

I don't understand how I can so easily connect to the uvnc.com repeater but can't connect to my own with the server software on the same machine as the repeater. I can get the listener connected with some port forwarding of the 5500 port but can't figure out the others.

How secure is it to use the uvnc repeater instead of my own?

I want my servers running so I can access the PC's I need to remotely at anytime without user intervention on the other end. I am doing this fine now with UltraVNC and echoserver, but having trouble with this software.

I think what we really need is a clear explanation of how to configure a router for use with the repeater, exactly what ports to open and type of ports for the repeater.

There no place here for show how to open port to every type of NAT router/Internet Gateway Device (IGD)
so please go there for your own.
http://www.portforward.com/english/rout ... rindex.htm

repeater uvnc.com use port 5901 TCP for viewer
repeater uvnc.com use port 5500 TCP for PcHelpWare_Server
repeater uvnc.com use port 5912 TCP for dynhost

port 5901 and 5500 can be your own prefered custom port to your own repeater
port 5912 for dynhost is not (yet) customizable.

anyway,
never work vncviewer <--> pchelpware_server
never work SingleClick <--> pchelpware_viewer
