Java Viewer logging into wrong computer

Post by jrodd »

we have several stores in different locations, and we use VNC extensively to log in and fix problems, change settings, see whats going on etc.
We don't normally use JavaViewer so im not sure extactly how to use it properly but we have all our port forwards set up in our cisco routers, for all different things, but it doesnt seem to work properly for the JavaViewer for our time clocks.
when going to the WAN ip address with port :5800 on the end which is forwarded in the router to the time clock, we end up at the server in each store which runs all the registers.
We just want to be able to let the store managers log in over the internet
http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:5800
directly to the time clock from home so that they can do the rosters, and view all the reports it provides.

The JAVA viewer operates with TWO ports: both HTTP (default 5800) & Main (default 5900). The initial stage uses HTTP port, and then switches to Main Port in actual connection.

So make sure all servers using different ports, and have the matched ports properly forwarded at router.

I'm not the most experienced out there, but from what I've seen, each computer should have VNC set up with port 5900, 5901, 5902, etc. Then if you access say port 5802 using the javaviewer, you will log into the computer running VNC on port 5902. Both 5802 and 5902 need to be forwarded to the proper computer for this to work.
