uVNC site manager

Post by X3 »

There should be a client manager that could manager and add more information per sites

Like e.g.

Site Manager

Friendly Name: _________
Location: ______________
IP: ___.___.___.___ (or URL)
Url:___________________ (thats like DNS instead of IP)
You own options_________________________________

Server online check: (*)On ( )Off
Connection Timer:(*)On ( )Off

And the information would be collected in some sort of form xml or spreadsheet or whatever really.

A client when deleted would come out of the connect to list in Viewer as well.

Im sure a few refinements come to mind of other people. so please vote and leave feedback on topic of what you think should be included... :)

Well, looking at what exists and what the prospect is, I'd by all means take your offer. But then again, it's Rudi's and Sam's decision ;)

Well I am not even done on the part where it shows Viewer side of this.

Killing Business software that competes? I dont get it, after all theres vnc related products already that are free and add on to uvnc... this would be like u said bringing it internally, all of it not just this.

Surelyy ambitious and hard to code but hey nothing great comes from easy stuff...

Yeah, this is something I am missing from my days using RAdmin.

For those that don't know, RAdmin has a Windows Explorer style to its 'viewer'. Think My Computer, with icons for each connection. If memory serves, you right click and create a new connection. It asks for a name and an IP address. It then creates an icon with the appropriate name (e.g. you could have Mum, Dad).

I'm not saying you should steal their whole idea of a graphical layout, I'm sure it could be done still with a drop-down. It is very confusing when you have several PCs (especially on several sites) to keep track of which iP belongs to which PC.

I don't know if it is possible at the moment, but it would be nice to be able to clear the list, or at least delete individual IPs from the list. For example, sometimes people don't have static IPs, so you have to enter a new IP for them each time.

Either idea of drop down menu or icons for each computer are great to a certain number of machines when this grows it becomes harder to manage on a drop down menu.

with the icons style you can separate them by groups or sites.

I havent designed that part yet and any designs are just suggestions.

I have looked around to see how everyone else does what they do and to be honest they all similar.

Not sure if it would be possible to build into a site manager a feature that could poll a repeater and show any active connections available. Usfull if you have to use a repeater in Mode 2 where many UltraVNC servers are connected using reverse connections.

meh?

they make vnc related programs that have source code available and theres plenty of vnc managers out here in this forum that have not been worked on and would make a great integration and only need bringing up to date. and obviously the integration repeaters dont come into this feature request.

Buts since you mentione it you only checking for active connections from diffrent machines and status annd whatever.

All we need is more talented people that are willing to put some work behing the new GUI and hey presto ...

SO I urge anyone that can help with this or website I can only do GFX we need more good people on the team and a diet of 1 thing done a day. to start...
