Mode Z real time data compression used by UVNC and FT ?

Post by redge »

MODE Z - :D

If you wish to transfer a large file by traditional FTP, what will you usually do? Probably get a compression utility and compress the file and send it to the other peer, and the other peer has to have his own compression utility to decompress the file you sent.

realtime data compression transmission - With MODE Z technology , just send the file, and it's done. Transmission is automatically compressed in the background, bandwidth will not be wasted, no compression utility is needed.

note :
MODE Z implementation is based on IETF draft... and is not a proprietary protocol

did Utr@VNC and FileTtransfer use mode Z real time data compression now with V1RC19.x or futur V2 next year ?

Well... why not ?

FileTransfer protocole wil be probably redisigned from scratch (no backward compatibility with V1 versions).

We want V2 to be faster and more powerfull than V1 in about every domains ;)

The current V1 FileTransfer works this way:
- It doesn't use the standard FTP protocole, so Z-mode would'nt it.
- When it is detected that the transfered file is not compressed, each read file packet (8KB) is compressed (zip compression) then sent on the other side and uncompressed then written.
