Rate Limit Mouse Cursor messages

Post by danielnice »

I have developed a VNC Server to run on integrated devices that is compatible with protocol version 3.3.

However, I cannot use the UltraVNC Client with my server as it floods my server with mouse cursor messages whenever the mouse is moved.
With the limited resources on our platform, this flood of small packets bogs down the network layer and prevents other network tasks from being serviced in a timely fashion.

RealVNC has always had an option to "rate limit mouse cursor messages".
When this option is enabled, the mouse cursor position is sent less-often (probably about 4 to 8 times a second).
Older RealVNC clients had just one checkbox; newer ones allow you to specify a number indicating how often to send the updates.
Obviously a change in button status should always be send immediately.

Can this option be added to the UltraVNC client?

We would prefer to use an open source client.
RealVNC has not responded to any requests for information on their newer protocols despite being the supposed maintainer of the VNC protocol.

O check it if something can be done easy.
viewer mouse moves -> server should be slower ( jump mouse option)
