show ip option

Post by brandon »

Some pc's that have a 3 digit ip in the 4th octet and vnc icon is closest to the clock it will cut off the number or the end user has trouble getting that ip to me. If they could like right click on the eye and have a show ip option to bring up a popup with the pc ip would be helpful. But granted there are many other ways to get a ip just so people have trouble following instructions lol

http://checkip.dyndns.org/ -> Here's the simplest way to have ppl seeing their ips. If you want to avoid users always to give you the ip you can use my program (VNC Central) whose site is written somewhere in this forum. You can create a setup that has vnc central connecting to your local computer automatically so you can have customers's vnc server connect to your local pc without even having to ask them to do anything: they just have to install the program and a .reg file (a .reg file that you can create with the configuration). Once they connect to internet vnc central will automatically connect to your local pc and you can just right click any of the connected computers in the vnc central dialog to launch a remote assistance. The main purpose of this program was in fact to avoid having to lose hours on the phone with customers that don't even have a clue about which mouse button should be clicked to open a program from its icon or just changed from a laptop to a desktop pc and don't know how to use the mouse (sadly they're true stories :P). I hope it will be useful (yeah it takes some time to configure but you'd probably be amazed by the result) (also you don't have to mess with firewalls, only of your local one to accept incoming vnc server connections).
