Upgrade Filetransfer to a FileBrowser

Post by WintermuteX »

As i (and surely many others) have to manage many file operations on the server side it would be great to upgrade the FileTransfer to a full FileBrowser which is able to rename files, copy them on the server side around and also has support to access network ressources ("\\pc\ressource") without "net use"'ing them. It would save bandwidth and would be much faster and comfortable than using the GUI on a dial-up connection

And another one: it would be nice to be able to delete more than one file a time and whole dir's, too.
I know this is also a security issue of a kind. Maybe the function could be an advanced server side registry value or something like this and/or must be explicit enabled each time you connect to the server on the viewer side. It's really a pain if you need to delete many files at once after you installed software and things like this. Sure, you can use the server side GUI to do this kind of stuff, but two of my server's are on slow dialup connections .. doing this stuff with the filetransfer dialog would be MUCH faster (and comfortable) for me. I guess i'm not the only one with such problems, am i? If it would be possible to implement the ability to use network ressources on the serverside too, it would help a lot people like me to manage a whole distant network without the need of installing multiple ftp servers and making network drives i don't want to have there. IF you are going to integrate such stuff, please give the possibility to provide a name/password combination to get access to ressource on a another computer. Thanks for the great tool btw :)

Shared drives

It would also be great if you can access the mapped drives on the client computer. Eg. you have a driveletter x: on a server, now this drive isn't accessible in the filetransfer mode on the client.

Thanks,
