Reinstall or upgrade?

Post by kevin7frg »

When reinstalling or upgrading, do I need to reboot the machine or just stop and start the service? I was told that you have to uninstall the old VNC then reboot the computer and then install a fresh copy of VNC otherwise it will not be correct.

-no reboot needed, this is only needed after driver install
( no driver changes >105)
-you don't need to remove the old copy

If vnc version >105 then you don't have to do anything, you can even run it while vnc is connected running as service.
upgrade does this
*old service stopped
*old service removed
*bin are replaced
*service is restarted

When you do this remote via vnc you temporal loose viewer connection,
but can reconnect when new service is started.

Please check local first... test i did where some time ago.
