x64 Install

Post by looker44 »

Running W2003x64, downloaded UltraVNC v1.0.6.4 x64 installer

The installer is trying to copy to [drive]\Program Files (x86)\UltraVNC

originalally 32bit vnc was installed (since removed), whats story

ADITIONALLY is there a specific win2003 x64 driver or use vistax64 or xpx64

32bit doesn't run on X64
X64 doesn't run on 32

Possible... to fast answer.

32bit version also seems to run on X64.
Only the X64 doesn't run on 32bit
The X64 exe is bigger then the 32bit version.

The winvnc Resource needed to be updated "Win32 Server 1.0.6.4", is deisplayed for 32 and 64 bit, to confusing.

64-bit Windows will run 32-bit code happily. It will load 32-bit DLLs, codecs, BHOs, etc. but things get nasty (interesting? :) ) when you mix the two.

I brought the installer issue up in the post/thread I linked to because of the \Program Files (x86) issue. That tells me the installer is putting things (essentially) into wow64 - fine for the 32-bit installer but not so great for actual 64-bit binaries and corresponding registry entries.
