Upgr. to 1.0.6.5 Vista 64 Bit and nothing does work anymor

Hi,

I installed UVNC 1.0.6.5 on two windows 2000 machines, configured the necessary port forwarding in the router and all worked correctly.

Now - after having installed windows vista Home Premium 64 Bit SP2 on the two machines, keeping the same router (port forwarding) and the same IPs for the 2 machines I ran into trouble.

On both machines (IP 192.168.0.51 and 52) I started VNC Server by help of windows START menue. Pinging each machine from the other one does work correctly. Windows Firewall is disabled but nevertheless I inserted a rule for port 5900. Router was not changed since ports and IPs of the workstations are still the same like mentioned above.

telnet 192.168.0.51 5900 from 192.168.0.52 does not work (time out). The same command on localhost DOES work.

So VNC Viewer does not connect to 192.168.0.51 from 192.168.0.52 and there is not any pop up window on 192.168.0.51 although "Display Query window" is enabled there under admin settings of the running server.

Since I never had problems with uvnc before I wonder why it does not work?

During the setup procedure the setup software tries to download "vista addon files" but is not able to reach the server. Is it possible that THIS is the reason for my problems?

I copied SCHook.dll into the uvnc directory manually to solve the download problem with vista addons.

Thanks for your help and best regards

yes
you need 2 files
http://sc.uvnc.com/cad.exe
http://sc.uvnc.com/SChook.dll
on same folder of Program Files\UltraVNC
UltraVNC 1.0.9.6.1 (built 20110518)
OS Win: xp home + vista business + 7 home

Thanks for your reply. But those 2 files are available in the correspondig folder.

A few minutes ago I deinstalled uvnc 1.0.6.5 and installed it again.

Same result:

"Downloading optional extra files - Please wait while setup is downloading and extracting extra files.

Connecting to 216.55.178.47"

ERROR sending request

The server is down.

Is it possible that it is not enough to copy cad.exe and SCHook.dll into the right folder? Maybe some registry settings are made during installation that are not performed if the server connection fails?

Best regards

This look like a firewall issue to me.

To test winvnc you can just copy winvnc.exe to the server pc and vncviewer.exe to the viewer pc. All other files are not required to make
a connection. No registry changes are needed.

schooks makes it faster, cad.exe allow to ctr-alt-del when running as service..... but first you need to be able to connect.

Try to execute
netsh firewall add portopening TCP 5900 blah enable
on server AND viewer
