Setup: I have a desktop (XP Pro) connected to an office server. I have a seperate laptop (Vista Business 32) which I can tap into the wireless internet at work. The laptop does not access the network drives. So both laptop and desktop are using the same internet connection at work except that the laptop is connecting through wireless.
I installed UVNC Viewer on my laptop, and UVNC Server on the desktop.
From the office: I can connect and view and control the desktop from my laptop.
From the home: My laptop cannot connect to the desktop and comes up with failed to connect to server error message.
My guess is that because I am now outside my office, I'm forgetting to change settings on my laptop and/or desktop to allow for a connection.
Any ideas on how I can get this working?

You're almost there -- it's not settings on your laptop OR your desktop that need to be changed. It's the settings at your router! It controls access from the outside world to the machines within your office network.

Briefly, you just need to forward port 5900 to the local IP address of your target server (desktop). Be sure to set a good password and consider turning on some encryption.
