refresh problem - Office PowerPoint 2007

Post by jenseilee »

Hi,
I have a screen refresh problem in WinXP Pro SP3 and Office PowerPoint 2007. UVNC Server version is a update from 1.0.5.3 to 1.0.8.2 and client version is also 1.0.8.2.

After connecting to the remote host the Video Hook Driver is active (1.00.22) and the Office Ribbon and menu works fine. But when I change in PowerPoint to a different slide or type text, I can’t see a refresh in the center. The scroll bar on the right side, the status bar and the border in the left overview refresh correct.

I have find out the following:
- Connect to remote host and open the VNC Properties.
- Disable the Video Hook Driver and press the apply button.
- Enable the Video Hook Driver press apply. This fix the refresh problem
- After a reconnect the problem exists again

I have enable/disable any other settings (Alpha-Blending etc.) without success.

Is there anyone with the same problem?

Regards,

If you are using the UVNC viewer and not with a web browser try unchecking Enable java Viewer (HTTP Connect). Using a web browser doesn't work as well as the UVNC viewer. Java is a big resource hog. Once you run refresh it's worse everytime you click on refresh. After you uncheck java you will almost never have to use refresh again. Make sure you are using the UVNC server dated DEC 12 it is not included in the install.
Keep your Capture Alpha-Blending checked

X64

Stop UVNC service go to your programs then UltraVNC - UltraVNC Server - Stop WinVNC service then over write the file with the DEC 12 included in the above zip file.

What? How is Java doing anything if he's using the regular 1.0.8.2 client as stated?

I don't think there's any Java running on the server, period. And it only runs on the client if, and when, the remote user browses to the relevant port and allows the Java app to execute.

So I don't see why disabling the Javaviewer option on the server would have any effect at all?

There was no mention of running it on a server. Besides that how would you know if he had java running on the server or not if he did have a server. We have it running on our servers and they don't have java installed but I can tell you after we unchecked the java tab things worked great but then we aren't talking about servers only a server service. If you don't have java than why bother checking it in the first place. So over all if you don't use the HTTP web brouser for viewing then you might as well turn off the HTTP java input anyway. If nothing else there is the big security issue anyway.

I was just talking about the "UVNC Server" the OP mentioned, that's all. Every PC running that is a "server" in this context.

Fair enough. I just thought you were implying earlier that the mini web server (a.k.a. Javaviewer) was somehow adversely affecting performance by itself using the JVM, which seemed unlikely...

Hi,
thanks for responding, but I think java is not the reason (JavaViewer is disabled). I tested it on 3 machines (2xHW 1xVM) and I see the same problem. Connection is over intranet.

I see this behavior only in PowerPoint. And there only in the edit area in the center. A disable/enable of the Video Hook Driver fix the Problem but after reconnect the refresh problem is present again.

I think there is a initialize bug in the Driver. I can’t see this in an older UVNC version (1.0.5.3)

This issue still happens in 1.0.9.6.1, and I can't find any solution.

I always go to "Request Screen Refresh" in the UltraVNC menu, on every slide.

This is the only "mayor" software that has this issue for me.

We talking about the "edit window"

... oh well.. fixed... in this way

If system Hookdll is active, the mouse pointer is duplicated in bizarre ways, so deactivated.

And the issue seems to be the video Hook.

I hope it helps, everything works fine now.
