VNC to AMX Touch Panels

Post by snorkeyg »

Hi All,
Ultra VNC supports VNC connections to AMX Touch Panels (http://www.amx.com/). What I am wondering is what is it that Ultra VNC viewer does that allows it to do this?

All other VNC clients I have tried connect but, only show a blank screen and the screen image never loads.

The reason I ask is I'm trying to develop a web based VNC viewer for these touch panels so lecturers at our university can control them using any mobile device they wish. Currently the web based viewer I am using (noVNC) works for all other VNC servers but, for some reason not AMX VNC devices.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Cheers,
Chris

Funny I knew AMX used VNC but I thought they were standards based and DID support multiple viewer clients.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I would remind you that there is already a web based Java viewer included in most versions of VNC (including Real, Tight, and Ultra) that you could modify if you chose. (By default it attaches to the server IP from which the viewer is launched, but I expect you could rewrite it to direct it where you wanted.)

If you poke around there are also ActiveX and HTML5 versions of VNC compatible viewers and servers (e.g. Guacamole)...
