ChunkVNC fork by rat help

Post by earl110 »

Hi,

I'm trying chunkvnc fork for multiple technician set up but I must be doing something wrong because I get "not a valid win32 application" on any of the .exe. I followed the instructions to run chunkvncremotesupport_install_3.1m and compiled after changing the url for the repeater. What am I missing or doing wrong...

Thanks,

Earl

ChunkVNC has always supported multiple technicians. Have you tried an "official" release?
What kind of AV are you running?

Yeah I have that one too question I have on that one I guess is how do I add more than one technician to the list. With the fork one it lists up to 13 technicians. I only need 3 listed but were all going to be in different locations. we will be pointed at a repeater at a separate location. I may be overthinking this...

You must be over thinking it, ChunkViewer can connect to the repeater from anywhere if setup correctly.

Read the installation guide as it might answer some of your questions: http://chunkvnc.com/installationguide.html
If you don't need to use the viewer outside of the LAN that the repeater is running on, you don't need to forward port 5901.
In your case since you have tech's connecting with ChunkViewer from multiple locations the repeater will either have to be running on a direct connection to the internet or port 5901 needs to be forwarded to it.

As long as the customer can tell the tech what the ID number is then you are all set.

Rat made his fork act more like the old SingleClick with the list and what not, AFAIK it simply assigns an ID number for each item in the list instead of randomly generating one.

Personally I prefer having an unique ID number per customer so there is less confusion when one tech deals with multiple people at the same time.

Thanks alot. I was overthinking it. I for some reason read it that you don't need to forward that port if your using the viewer outside of the LAN. Thank you for being patient I am new to this area and want to learn it! If you have any guides that might help me better understand the insides of it I'd appreciate it.

No worries, the only guide I have is that installation one but I'm always here to help in the forum.

Good luck. :)
