Primary screen to the right

Post by boglode »

Hi

I love UltraVNC and ChunkVNC :-) and we are now trying to upgrade...

I have just updated our Remote support from ChunkVNC 3_1 to ChunkVNC 3.3.1 - however I am experiencing problems when I am using two monitors and I have my primary monitor at the right side. I had similar problems in UltraVNC 1.0.8.2 (https://forum.ultravnc.net/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=17098) but in ChunkVNC 3.1 I had no problems. Now I get the same monitor shown twice when I have the primary screen at the right side of the secondary screen.

Please find my server - ini file settings below. BTW I have tryed all kind of compiling both with old ini-file and old exe-file and even using winvnc.exe from my own installtion of UltraVNC (1.0.9.6.1) - but with no luck so far. The funny thing is that with UltraVNC I get the screen positioned correct - even with primary monitor at the right side! But in ChunkVNC i keep getting two identical screens in the same scenario. Any help/hint will be appreciated :-)

Can it be that the DSM-plugin is causing these problems? Below the ini-file from ChunkVNC 3_1 (using UltraVNC 1.0.8.2 I think) :-)

Interesting, I thought this issue was resolved. I guess some testing is in order today.
I'll get back to you after I try some things.

I'm not able to replicate the issue using a fresh download of 3.3.1

What operating system are you using?
Video card and driver version?

I just tested with XP:
Primary screen on right.
Secondary screen on left.

Works as it should.

I can replicate the issue with Vista 64bit!
I'll look into getting this fixed, thanks for the bug report.

Seems like we found a bug in UltraVNC, I'll report this to Rudi.

Here is the fix I found so you can have the primary on right secondary on left:
1) Open SRC\InstantSupport_Files\ultravnc.ini

2) Find these values:
PollForeground=0
PollFullScreen=1
PollUnderCursor=0
EnableHook=0

3) Change them to this:
PollForeground=1
PollFullScreen=0
PollUnderCursor=1
EnableHook=1

The weird part is that EnableHook=1 used to mean "use schook.dll if available" but ChunkVNC 3.3 doesn't include this file. It won't work without setting this value to 1.

PollUnderCursor doesn't need to be enabled for this fix but screen updates will be really bad with it disabled.

I happen to run Vista64 (not exactly by choice) but do you think the issue extends to Win7?

Confirmed that 7 x64 is reacting the same as Vista.

Fantstic - I am running Windows7 32-bit (Danish) and your solution/reconfiguration of the ini-file helped me.

Thank you very much - what a quick response!

BTW. how do we contribute (cold cash) to this project?

Regards

Bo.

El Chunk has got a donate section on the top right of the chunkvnc.com page.

UltraVNC has a donate button very carefully hidden (really, it was hard for me to find) in the middle of http://www.uvnc.com/index.php
