i got a wan problem

Post by xdgamex »

ok when im compiling chunk vnc i use my ip address that i find from whatismyip.com which im assuming that is the address my isp provides me with. I'm not sure if im doing this wrong but it keeps giving me a connection error with the viewer and i dont know why. The computer needing support will connect to the repeater but my viewer keeps getting a connection failed on the ip address.

thanks for the help

Is the viewer behind the same "address my isp provides me with" and on the same network as the repeater?

if so, you probably need to use the local address (LAN address) of the repeater.

I don't understand then. You said "the computer needing support (your brother?) WILL connect to the repeater", but now you say he can't connect to you?

Stupid question for you then -- are you sure you're both using the same 6 digit repeater ID? If he hasn't installed ChunkVNC as a service, it will automatically generate a new number every time he runs it.

If your router doesn't support loopback (connecting to the WAN IP from inside your network) you'll have to put the Viewer into LAN mode.
