Re-establish lost connection tip

Post by PaulW »

I've been using CHUNKvnc for several years now and maybe this tip will help someone else.

Install a free Logmein account on the repeater computer, install sysinternals tcpview and run. Plus, you might put a shortcut to the repeater log file. Now, after connecting if you think you will be working off and on for a while use the "install as service" on the remote computer. Sorry, I'm assuming some knowledge of CHUNKvnc in writing this.

If you loss a connection or cannot re-establish a connection. Log into the repeater computer, find the connection in tcpview, right-click and click disconnnect. In most cases the connection will appear again in the tcpview list and now try to connect again. 9 times out of 10 this works. Also, if you need the 6 digit access code you can see it in the repeat log files.

Any news of a new version of ChunkVNC??
How about Now? And Now?

Thanks for the tip, that's a great way of getting a single connection going again without interrupting the other connections.

So far there has only been dreams of a new version but currently the software does what it needs to do for my business so I haven't had a need to focus my spare time on it.
Some day... ;)
