File transfer extreeeemly slow

Post by Centauri39 »

I´m running UVNC 1.0.9.5 (server and viewer) on a desktop computer and on a netbook (viewer only).
Both of them are XP Home SP3 systems and they are connected to the same wireless home network.
So, the UVNC connection between these two is wireless, too, of course.

Now, if I try to transfer files from the netbook (sent from there) to the desktop computer, I´ve got only a speed of 17kbits/s.
My WLAN is a type "g" one, i.e. it is able to run at 54Mbit/s and it usually does.

If I try a file transfer using the network environment and shared folders, it is much faster than 17kbits/s.

What´s wrong?
How can I improve the transfer speed, please?

http://www.uvnc.com:8080/docs/uvnc-server.html
try to play with these variables:
need manual modifiy ultravnc.ini with run as administrator right for save file.

sendbuffer=xxxx
variable available starting uvnc 1.0.8.0
sendbuffer=1500 (wifi or value less)
sendbuffer=4096 (lan 100Mbit)
sendbuffer=8192 (lan 1GBit, aka jumbo packet)

MaxCpu=xxx
MaxCpu=100 (winvnc can use full 100% cpu)
MaxCpu=40 (winvnc can use max 40% cpu)

between 2 computers wired 100Mbit/s, FileTransfer at 6Mbit/s

tested between 2 computers wireless 54Mbit/s FileTranfer at 350Kbit/s with MaxCPU=100
tested between 2 computers wireless 54Mbit/s FileTranfer at 500Kbit/s with MaxCPU=20
xp home winvnc wireless
7 home vncviewer wireless

sendbuffer= no have effect for filetransfer for my test. (restarted winvnc)

I tried maxCPU=20 and got a speed of about 700 kbits/s.
Then I tried maxCPU=40 and maxCPU=10 and then maxCPU=20 again.
I set 40, 10 and the second 20 within the VNC window, sitting at my netbook but I reconnected after each setting.
But I didn´t geht over 37 kbits/s anymore.

I think, I try again tomorrow, since I think 20 should be the best value so far, and to see, if I will get 700 kbits/s again, after rebooting the desktop machine.

EDIT:
I just found that sendbuffer=1500 is neccesary, actually.
Removing this entry was wrong.

In fact, I need both...
sendbuffer=1500
...and...
MaxCpu=20

Now, I get speeds of about 800 kbits/s to 940 kbits/s.

Still no overwhelming speed, but by far better than 17 kbits/s.
