Silly Question... but

Post by Cheval »

I know the easy answer is just get the latest version but it's not as easy as one would like...

We've not kept up with the latest versions of UltraVNC and can't immediately bring all the systems up to the latest version.

That being the case, which versions work together and which will not work together?

ie. How far back in versions will each server talk to clients?

I am only interested in remote control over a secure VPN, so not worried about file transfer, blacking out the screen, multi-monitor, plug-ins, etc.

If you don't use a ultravnc viewer ( a tight or realvnc viewer) it should work with all versions.
This internal switch the servers to compatibility mode.

The backword compatibility with vncviewer seems to be broken. There were some bugs in the old server that get triggered
by the new viewer.

We need to cross test all versions, current we don't have a list.
Sorry
