IPMI support

Post by Prisma »

I know this is al little bit off topic:

Nearly all server boards have IPMI/KVM access. Nearly all boards advertise VNC on 5900 on that interface. So, what sense could it make to install an extra VNC within the OS (except file transmission)?
But I'm not able to access our SuperMicro IPMI Board. It uses RFB 3.8. But I'm always getting the message that this authentication method is not supported.

Do I need a special DSM plugin or is it otherwise supported? Or wouldn't it make sense to implement IPMI VNC access? Has this already been a request in the past?

LOL Are they stupid? supermicro got it done to make it that proprietary nobody can connect otherwise. Partially the can't connect themselves because some proprietary extensions are not ported to some OS... although the use generally a platform independent language. Congratulations!

OK, thanx rudi...
