Strange, normal you should get a popup like this
Image
this ask you to mail the dump.

Did you copy all files from the zip in a folder.
crashrpt_lang.ini
crashrpt1403.dll
crashsender1403.exe
dbghelp.dll
in the vnc folder

yes everything was copied from where I run UVNC.

Nothing else in comp logs to show that CrashRpt Tests try to run and fail.

p.s
I can see in log ~at the same time:

Code: Select all

The Windows Error Reporting Service service entered the running state.
and 2 min later

Code: Select all

The Windows Error Reporting Service service entered the stopped state.
p.p.s
as I told you no idea if GP config stop this to work or not:

Something interesting with this 1.2.0.8 pre-release version:

server in w8.1 x64, LAN WIFI N 65mbps - user play minecraft full screen
viewer w7 x64, LAN 1 Gb

- previous version: I was unable to view, after I connect Viewer was very quick disconnected... no idea, maybe server CPU is to slow ?

- 1.2.0.8 pre-release: I am able to connect and stay connected, no more disconnections.
I can see full w8.1 desktop as it is and mouse moving as user is play minecraft but not the full screen image that player see.

For me it is better than previous ver.

p.s.
searched for crashdump.dmp and nothing found.

If you are using the tight encoder it could be a lot faster.

We added a patch after the first 1.2.0.8 was released.
Since TurboVNC no longer provides a Windows server, for years I have been referring people who need that functionality to UltraVNC. But UltraVNC's Tight encoder doesn't perform as well as TurboVNC's, because the UltraVNC Tight encoder is still based upon assumptions made by the original TightVNC project. In a nutshell, TightVNC didn't use JPEG very much, because JPEG was extremely slow in the 1990's, but thanks to libjpeg-turbo, JPEG encoding is now the fastest encoding available in the Tight encoder, so TurboVNC uses it more often. That's a vastly over-simplified description-- the attached patch contains a more thorough description of what the TurboVNC performance enhancements actually do and why. These optimizations were partly merged from the old TurboVNC WinVNC server (luckily, UltraVNC's Tight encoder is also based on TightVNC 1.3.x), but I also went through that code and made sure that the latest enhancements to the TurboVNC encoder in the TurboVNC Un*x server were captured.

Right now I have no idea how can I set that up but I am interested... ( any link available - thank you ).
On server I am not using java port, only RFB Port and vncviewer.exe

I am relative "new" user to this great sw ( in the past I had to use TWD RA & DS but they killed that commercial sw and it not work any more for w7, w8.1 ),
I succeed to set-up UVNC a year ago and as it is I am using as home user on XP, w7, w8.1,
I did not found anything I can do to improve, doc&site for this is not very easy to find & understand... I just found repeater last month and I try it.

What I found using UVNC:
- view only password it is not working.... not a problem for me.
- repeater from main link on site 2013 work very bad comparing with one I found searching the forum repeater1200.
- I had to set up the server service as automatic delay start other way servers are not connecting to repeater all the time.

here are my settings for servers:

If you were using tight encoder, the latest update make this encoder faster.
if the system use enother encoder, nothing changed between 1208 pre-release and the crashtest.

used encoder:
while connected press the (!) button on the viewer, this screen show the encoder you use.
select encoder:
You can select the encoder you want, via the viewer buttons
With the settings button you can manual select the encoder.

repeater download page updated

view only not working ?
You set
passwd full abcdefg
passwd view-only bcdefgh

What happen when you connect with bcdefgh

Ok, I understand now, I was on Auto settings and encoder was Ultra2, switched to manual and selected Tight, will see later how it work on Minecraft.

wrong password... if I remember I changed only last character from password for View only, bat that is not a problem for me as I am the only user and always connect with keyboard/mouse disabled.

thank you

p.s.
anything else I can improve ?

This tightencoder is faster the the old tightencoder.

Tight en zrle are encoders for slow networks, less bandwidth higher cpu.
On lan ultra2 ( mjpeg) is faster.

I tried the new crashdump version and was able to crash the viewer a few times but newer saw the special CrashRpt-window (http://forum.ultravnc.info/viewtopic.ph ... =30#p99027) - instead I only got the "normal" crash window of windows (= the same I I got with other viewer-versions)

Notes:
- tried 32bit and 64bit version of crashdump-viewer @ Win 8.1 x64
- 64bit version complained about missing "msvcp100.dll" (i copied one from the virtualbox v5 install-folder to the crashdump-viewer folder -> then i could start the 64bit viewer)

What am I doing wrong? I'd like to catch these viewer crashes... :|

There is one problem in this version.
When you view a full screen viewer window on the display screen are cut off as the height of the toolbar.

Thanks for the crash reports, they realy help finding threading errors.

we are trying this new version with Windows 10 seems to go really better, but it happened a few times that the repeater is configured on our server should be closed and reopened why not accept more connections.
With version 1.2.0.6 it never happened. You may depend on the new version?

I was waiting unril more people mailed the dumps generated via the crashrpt version before creating the release.
The problem seems to be that people wait for the release.

At the end of this month a release build wil be made, with all current bugs fixed a found using 3 crashrpt mailed to me.

I've been trying this version out (server) and it seems to be working great! Except for one problem...I'm using Windows Server 2012 R2 with the "system hookdll" enabled and see some black artifacts on screen updates when moving windows around. If I disable the system hook dll, the artifacts go away but the performance is much worse. Here's a picture, you can see the RDP on the left is fine and the VNC connection isn't updating properly:
