Periodical auto-start of the server

Post by AliasName »

My problem is simple - each time my brother sits at the computer, he closes the UVNC server and NEVER turns it back on.

I want it to check every X minutes (configurable) whether the server is running and start it if it isn't.

Effectively, I want the Close button to just hide it for 15 minutes... and my brother to be none the wiser (or any other person who didn't set up the program).

For that matter, a "Hide tray-icon when 'Close' is clicked" checkbox will be most welcome...

Just hide the tray icon all together.
This space not for rent.

If you can run telnet, you could log on through that and use the net commands to ensure the service is running.

psservice

sysinternal's psservice can restart the service and a stopped service will be started sans tray icon.

3 Steps:

1. Run UVNC as a service (forgot which program can do this but you can).

2. Then write a batch file:

net start <ULTRAVNC SERVICE NAME>

3. Use system scheduler to run your batch file every X minutes. If the service is already running, it will not do anything. If the service is not running, it will start it, thus starting the program.
