DSM Plugin in use by a normal connection => locked for SC?

Should you have problems with the DSM plugin, here's the place to look for help or report issues.

DSM Plugin in use by a normal connection => locked for SC

Postby jksmurf » 2006-06-05 02:00

I'm testing SC remotely with an established VNC connection.

I might be attempting something incorrect here, so what I'd like to know is if this behaviour is by design and whether there are better approaches to do this.

1. I am at my work computer, and have established a working connection with home PC, using DSM_NoReg plugin. Great.
2. When I have VNCViewer listening on 5500, with NO PLUGIN, Single click works fine, I can see the dialog accept incoming call. Great.
3. When I have VNCViewer listening on 5500, WITH the DSM NoREG PLUGIN, single click at Work Says teh remote can see my desktop, but my remote (home) PC does not throw up the accept dialog. When I close the Work SC Icon works it throws up the dialog "Connection failed - error reading protocol version" with the four possible reasons.

i.e. With NO plugin, SC Works. Without it it doesn't

I am using UltraVNC 1.0.2 (same noth sides) and the MSRC4 1.1.9.8 Plugin MSRC4Plugin_NoReg.dsm (Same both sides).
I have loopback conncections enabled in Admin Properties.

I noticed in the UltraVNC dir on the Server that a temporary MSRC4Plugin_No Reg-tmp.d1 was spawned and I was wondering if I'm simply trying to access the SAME plugin with BOTH connections i.e. my 5900 and 5500 SC connection?

Is there a better way to do this?
Thanks

k.

actual design of dmsplugin as known limitation
winvnc/vncviewer not (yet) allow multiple connection with a dsmplugin

Ah, I see, Thank you for that, what a relief! And thanks for putting in what seems to be an enormous effort on your part to answer a LOT of Q's.

Whew, it's always nice to know it is failing by design, rather than by my own ineptitude!

So I guess it's:

Multiple Connections possible WITHOUT DSM Plugin.
Or
Single Connection ONLY, WITH DSM Plugin.

k,

It is possible to use single click without any encyption. Just remove the plugin switch in your helpdesk file and remove the plugin use in the viewer..:)

Thanks bevtech, yup, I know that works as per point 2 above ...

2. When I have VNCViewer listening on 5500, with NO PLUGIN, Single click works fine, I can see the dialog accept incoming call. Great.

I guess my query was more about the plugin use.... 0:-)
