Client hangs when connecting, Runtime error

Post by Kakis »

Hi

I get the following error while connecting, after entering the password.
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\ [...] .exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusal way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I use latest versions of both server and client. I run Win XP on both computers. I'm seperated by a five hour train journey between the server and the client. In the next two months my plan was to use UltraVNC to remote control my computer (the server) at home. While still at home I tested first to set up UltraVNC without encryption to start with and let my father connect to it from this computer. It worked. Later on I let a friend sitting at an other computer try it with encryption activated. It worked. I then thought everything was setup fine, headed back to my parents...but now I run into this.

The reason I post this here is that the only thing I can think of has changed since this computer succesfully connected was the activation of the encryption. As stated above the encryption has worked from a different computer. I will not be able to travel back to the server and make adjustments to it.

Please help me

2 issues

1. screen saver password and winvnc running as application (can't be unlocked and crash the viewer)
2. you try to login vncviewers on same vnc server (encryption running)

the known bug of dsmplugin not yet allow multiple encrypted connection to same vnc server

I think that the first issue is the case. The situation is like this: I run the UltraVNC server as an application (with admin rights) on my user account (not admin rights). Natrually the screen saver goes on and to you would then have to enter the passport for whatever user you would want to log on/resume.

If it's not possible to recover in this state, without visiting the server, please tell me and I will let the computer to be turned off through pulling the fuse.

I assume this isn't possible without making the 600 km journey to get to the computer physically?
