Java Applet that will run VNC server

Post by godd0810 »

i will like to be able to be able to activate a special temp login then allow a user to enter that login info i give them and then i get view/full control of their PC.

i know there is probably going to need firewall configuration but i think this can be a great feature

Sounds like you're describing PcHelpWare. It allows you to create a server executable that doesn't require your client to modify anything in their firewall.

As part of my job, I routinely use both CoPilot and UltraVNC-SC to assist folks. Tech folks might be surprised by how difficult simply downloading and running an EXE can be for many end-users.

A well constructed Java applet could alleviate this hurdle... simply tell the customer to go to a website and have it automatically connect back to the support staff's machine.

I concur!!

I have been searching for something exactly like this and tried many java applets but all seem very difficult to get working.

Try openfire with the redfire plugin it has a screensharing java applet, I could only get this working locally but seemed to work OK.
