I know that a few others have made similar tools but I wanted to make one my way because I think that it's a bit easier to use even if it doesn't have all of the features of some of the others.

You can get more information at http://www.vncscan.com/vs/oneclickVNC.htm

This tool resolves the problem of using VNC to remotely help people behind firewalls.

I'd love to hear comments.

it is DAMN slow on a LAN.... and I'm afraid to test in on the internet Smile
How can the speed be improved?
Is there a way your app installs the video driver - I think it will be a lot faster after that Smile

Ok, I'll have to do the settings.ini edit tomorrow but I uploaded a new version to see if it's any faster. Wanna give it a go? It's the same file name as the previous one.

what's changed in the new version?
I have built an installer with your prog, but with a silent installation of the mirror display driver, and it was a charm.... but it is UNpersonalized, I mean, in the installer there is my IP number... is there any way of doing it another way, so everybody benefit Smile Because now only I benefit with the installer way... it installs itself, installs the display mirror driver, and starts - great work of both of us Wink wish more people benefit from the whole thing Smile

Hi, Steve,
I use now oneclickvnc and it works like a dream. I was getting frantic trying to connect to a lan pc. Thank you for this app. Just 2 questions: 1. do I need to install the video driver too, and 2. is there a file transfer possibility too?

This is very easy to set up. A very simple solution. I put both OneClickVnc.exe and a Settings.ini that have and dynamicdns url and a port #of 5598(just my port that I like) into a self extracting zip file(winzip8.0)and it worked fine. But here are some suggestion.

1. The cmd box stays up too lon with nothing in it but a 0(zero). The person running it may have no idea what that is and close it.

2. The cmd box should minimize on its own after a few seconds. Its my experiance that a lot of people do not know what the minimize button does or where it is.

3. After the tech disconnects or the person stops session the command box should close.

4. After the tech disconects or the person stops the session OneClickVNC and Settings.ini should automatically erase. They did not when I tested it. The files were still sitting right there on my desktop. That could be a good thing if you are going to have to do repeated support sessions, but then you would just send the person the self extracting exe again if they needed that. It would be better not to leave files/icons sitting around on a person desktop/HD.

These are just minor problems though. Overall this is the simplest SC varient, as far as ease of setup, that I have ever seen and I will be using it constantly

How safe is this program?
i mean if one click the EXE file and use the settings file
the connection is good
but does the computer open that port so someone can scan his ip for this open port and connect aswell?

I did not write the program. But it would seem to me that the open port set in the settings file would be on the vncviewer machine. In otherwords on the tech support machine. Correct me if I am wrong.

Hrm... sounds to me like this mirror display driver is an important thing.
Just wondering, how did you make this install thing with the silent install of the video driver?
I was just using the Single Click thing on the UltraVNC website here but when I tried it over the internet, it went slow as heck.
Does installing the Video driver on the client's computer help the speed a bunch?
If so, how would I go about installing it without them knowing (silent install, just like gromeo)

Thanks in advance!

Is there a way to open the exe file and see the source of it?

Bozteck One-Click VNC is freeware, meaning not open source ?
no source available except request it to programmer.

only SingleClick is free open source and source already available to everyone.

Actually, I would be happy to post the source to it. It's completely free and I don't mind if you use it in any way whatsoever. I'll dig it up and put it on the vncscan website.

Sbostedor. I finally tested this over the internet it worked fine. The only problem I had was getting it working with and dyndns.org address. I finally just had to put my public ip in. Do you have any info on this?

Hi guys,

We currently have it running and although a little bit of a pest to setup however considering we needed to setup ISA Server 2000 as well as a Linux Box it wasnt too bad Smile

We have Support Sites in different locations and the Settings.ini file only accepts 1 WAN Address to listen for. Is there a way to accept multiple WAN IPs and have it listen on as adding each one to the Settings.ini file is too complicated for the end user to do regularly.

Regards,

Aaron

not sure if you will get much responce on this one ...

consider using something a little more updated (just my thoughts)

Just for all of you who did not know. This is the easiest vnc deployment that I have ever used. Just two files. Tell the person to put them on the desktop, doubleclick oneclickvnc.exe and then step away from the computer. I use it all the time to solve my friends computer problem. I am not a professional tech rep. Just a more then average knowledgeble windows user and this is just great to help people. The hardes thing that I have found is getting people to know how to save the files to the desktop.

Oh I know JDaus but this is the one SC variant that consistantly works for me. Up until yesterday when I tried to connnect to a vista system from my xp machine. It worked but all I got was a black screen.

I think this release was not made for work with vista
