hey guys,
i have been using uvnc at home to access my desktop (XP) from my laptop (vista) (just in a LAN situation) with no issues through my linksys wag200 with no issues at all. i recently bought a netgear dg834g (to be honest, no idea why. the lynksis is a nicer modem. another story i guess :-) ) and now cant access either through the netgear. i have set port forwarding through 5900 but no matter what i try, even disabling all firewalls, i cant access it.

any help guys??? please??

also just out of curiousity can you guys also vote a preffered modem router wireless, for most apps and ease of use with the best features. its good to know as a newbie. :-)

cheers guys.

well I personally prefer Netgear routers myself.

What you will might need to do is setup IP reservations so that each of your computers always get the same IP address each time the computers are started. That way you can setup port forwarding to the vnc servers so that you can remote control the machines..

Question: Are you having issues with LAN connections as well or just over the internet??

my wireless nnetwork is working fine. everything is setup spot on. only connecting uvnc through the lan is troubling me :-(.

by the way. ive always had netgear thats why i bought one. tried the lynksis, as i also like the thought of cisco coming into the home consumer market but netgear is like those comfy pants we wear when at home :-)
