What could be the issue as I have setup the Server with HTTP port 80 and a VNC client port of 225 but in my Mozilla Firefox I get an error after getting the record and other bars "network error: could not reach to server 'my ip':225

Thanks

I think I have to enable the security features in the Java control panel like the certificate import. Any idea how to make this work?

Are you sure you had correctly setup the port forwarding?
LAN and loopback there no impact, NAT ignored. So your test almost always successful.
WAN remote, NAT translation/firewall should be set properly.

Port forward 80 TCP + 225 TCP is very important.
Outgoing should be allowed for firewall especially port 225.

Java release at office is it OK?
Allow download certificate is depend of the security of your internet settings (Internet Explorer even you won't use Internet Explorer and policy of your enterprise) maybe you have a Proxy at your office? If so, you need to be connected to your Proxy then maybe you can access Internet.

Yes, we have a Proxy in office. I can browse to the Internet without any problems.

Your proxy blocks incoming data from port 225
UltraVNC sends back data to port 225

You need a UltraVNC with single port for success, not 2 ports.

How do I make it a single port. I have main port to 81 and HTTP port to 80. That means VNC should use port 80 to connect and receive and should not even use 81 right? As far as I can see is that port 80 is not blocked in office as Internet browsing is possible but if VNC uses a different port for receiving then theres would be connection problems.

Thanks

UltraVNC 1.0 release had 1 port existing but later was forgiven.
Hope 1.0.4 have back the 1 port available with the 2 ports.

I think the problem lies in the understanding of what is occuring when using JavaViewer. I will try to best describe it (I may be wrong)
  • UltraVNC Server is setup to use two ports 5900 (VNC) and 5800 (Java)
When a connection is made from a client to the JavaViewer (via a web-browser) on port 5800, the applet is downloaded to the client and run locally.
The JavaViewer then makes a (VNC) connection to the Server on port 5900
Thus TWO ports are used. In theory (never tried this), you may be able to use port 80 for Java, and 443 for VNC, thus getting through most firewalls (don't know about proxies).

Hope this helps explain it for yourself and others.

With 1 port you can use one port for both (Java and RFB)
