Viewer on Mac OS X?

Post by stophi »

Is there any way we can run a PCHelpWare viewer on Mac OS X natively?

It would be great not to have to load Parallels each time I need to use it.

Sorry should have been more specific.

I have Chicken of the VNC, can that be used as a viewer for a PCHelpware Server that has connected to a Repeater?

Thanks

I am still keen to be able to use my OS X Mac as the Viewer via the repeater using the Repeater ID .

Has anybody been able to do this?

No stophi, PCHelpWare is NOT compatible with any VNC program, ONLY PCHelpWare.

(Thanks for the correction Redge - I forgot that PCHelpWare and UltraVNC are 2 different softwares )
"[PCHelpWare] has it's own protocol and is not compatible with UltraVNC or any other VNC flavor. To use PCHelpWare you need to use both its server and viewer."

So, if you still need to remote connect a Mac and PC I have been successful with UltraVNC. Specifically, I was able to control the MAC with the PC. I set up the Mac as a server with Chicken of the VNC. Then I ran UltraVNC Viewer on the PC and connected to the Mac. Haven't tried to control the PC with the Mac however, and no longer have a Mac to play with.

More info on VNC if you care:

"VNC is platform-independent — a VNC viewer on one operating system may connect to a VNC server on the same or any other operating system."

Chicken of the VNC and PcHelpWare should work together, because according to Wikipedia...
1.Wrong
2. Just checked wikipedia of vnc, not mentionned anywhere pchelpare.

pchelpware is not VNC or if you prefer, pchelpare is uncompatible VNC
UltraVNC 1.0.9.6.1 (built 20110518)
OS Win: xp home + vista business + 7 home
only experienced user, not developer
