How do I view my old posts?

Postby jameshanley39 » 2008-05-19 14:35

hi

I made some old posts, they had replies..

My account hadn't been used for a while, so got deleted - as is standard procedure here. So I had to reregister it.

How do I view my old posts ? Were they deleted with my account?

You know maybe some of them are/were useful for people. I remember somebody saying one of them was!

i've head that there is no way.
unless perhaps the user includes his name in the post.

It is a bad function of php2bb , that posts from Deleted accounts cannot be searched. Those users come up as Guest, and have no profile..

so it's really bad that you delete user accounts after x time. No other forum I have used has such a policy.

We are not deleting any accounts that have not been active for a longer time. We are, however, removing inactive accounts (i.e. never initially activated with the activation link, or inactive after a password change request) quite regularly.

ah, sorry, my mistake..

My faith in the forum has been restored!

(though I think you do delete posts with no replies!) Are posts with no replies really such a nuisance that they should be deleted? What if the post is somebody has a solution to something.. And so it doesn't need a reply to be useful. Or if a single post has some useful information or analysis in it. Even if it has no reply.

I have not been deleting any posts with no replies for quite some time. The reasoning I had was that if a post was not answered in 60 days the chance of it being answered was slim due to the fact that nobody is seeing it. With the indexing of the forum being a so much better people can just search for a question before they write one and they can actually bring old posts back so much easier that i quit doing that... So if unanswered posts are being erased it is not me doing it...:)
