Invalid attempt (not authenticated)

Post by Bihler »

Trying to connect to one domain computer that is giving me problems. The other 60+ are fine.
I connect to all of them using MS-Logon II, using my account which is in a domain group called VNCACCESS.
This PC has worked in the past but now I get "VNC Authentication Failed" and get the following in the mslogon.log file on that machine :
10/06/2008 12:53:56 Invalid attempt (not authenticated) from client 192.168.2.49 using *** account
10/06/2008 13:16:34 Invalid attempt (not authenticated) from client 192.168.2.49 using *** account

I can log on OK using another account that is in that group just not my own. I can still log on to every other machine using my own account. I uninstalled UVNC, rebooted, reinstalled and rebooted again. Same results. If I turn MSLogon off then I can connect using the password.

Any ideas??

OK, figured this one out, or at least made it work.

There are 5 accounts in the group I created, mine was the only one not working on this computer.

On a whim I checked the profiles and I had logged on to this computer as a local user at some point. Don't know why, it's not my usual practice, and the password was not my domain password either.
First I tried setting this account password to my domain password, didn't work but I didn't reboot.
Second I deleted the profile. This worked, able to log in using my account.

Hope this helps someone else...

Martin
